Want to know the best hair growth oils that are out there? Then this post is for you.
In this article:
If you ask any hair care junkie they will tell you that growing thick and lush hair is no joke. You have to take care of them in the right way and consistently. There are many ways you can promote hair growth and upgrade the health of your hair, one of them is using hair oils.
This is why today we are going to talk about the best hair growth oils.
Do hair growth oils really work?
Yes, they can work. For now we know only about a few ingredients that are backed by science. So when you purchase a hair oil you must pay attention to the INCI list (i.e. the list of ingredients). Here are a few examples:
- Rosemary
- Peppermint
- Lavender
- Vitamin E
- Zinc
Beside what ingredient is present in the oil you want to purchase is also important that you notice the concentration of beneficial ingredients. The necessary concentration for effectiveness depends on the ingredient.
Aurora’s tips
most brand don’t list the percentage of their ingredients but they must list them in descending order. this means that the first ingredient will be the one with highest percentage while the last one will have the lowest percentage.
Now, this does not mean that every hair growth oil with rosemary in it you find will make your hair grow. The reasons why can be multiples.
Your hair may be growing at a normal rate but you don’t take enough care of your ends so the hair breaks off more than it grows, therefore you don’t see any result. This is a common misconception but if you want to see results you should start with taking great care of your ends before thinking of your scalp. Here are a few hair oils that will help you do that:
- The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil
- Olaplex No. 3 Repair Perfector
- Pure argan oil (make sure is cold pressed for better results)
You might need to give it time. Note that hair grows at 0.5 inches a month on average, for some people even less. Also in the clinic studies the oils considered gave results in 2 to 6 months. So be patient, consistency is key.
No hair growth oil works for everyone. You may be just using the wrong product for you. Experiment you will find the right one I promise.
How to use an hair growth oil
It’s pretty simple. You put the amount of oil specified on your oil instruction on your hands, then you rub it through your hands and massage your scalp with it. Make sure to give lots of love to your scalp as it will stimulate blood flow to it, a necessity for hair growth.

As for the frequency of the treatment, again read your oil instructions. I would recommend at least once a weak tough, that way you can do it before you wash your hair to avoid having greasy hair. Sometimes I actually take advantage of this time to show off some sleek hairstyles eheh.
The best products out there
Finally the best part. Which hair growth oil actually works and is the best fit for you. Here are my reccomendations:
- Natucain Hair Activator: I will not lie to you this stuff is NOT cheap. But the ingredient list is phenomenal and this product made my hair stronger and fuller-looking. Plus one bottle will last you up to 3 months. If you have the means, please buy it.
- Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Hair Oil: of course I had to include it. This product gave me great result, in particular I experienced less breakage but I have to admit I do not love the chemical smell of it. Other than that I really liked it.
- The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density: this is the cheapest option but boy this really works. In particular I noticed my hair were a lot softer which is a bonus and I felt and saw them thicker. This is the one I’m using right now.
- Briogeo B. Well Organic + Cold-Pressed 100% Castor Oil: I will be honest with you, I still haven’t tried it but I felt like I must include it. I’m fine with castor oil in general, plus this was recommended to me by a very trusted friend of mine. Just thought I’d let you know :).
- The INKEY List Caffeine Stimulating Scalp Treatment: with this product I haven’t noticed much of a difference in my hair over all but I will say this really helped me in my thinning areas. If you struggle with it too you may want to try it, plus it comes at a fair price.
