Everybody is talking about cicaplast baume B5 and loving it. So, of course, I wanted in.
I‘ve been using it religiously for the past month and I absolutely love it! It’s fantastic and it helped me understand the importance of the skin barrier.
I want to share everything about my experience with cicaplast B5 so that you can benefit from it too!
About my skin: acne-prone and combination
Just for context, I think it’s important that you know a little more about my skin so that you can decide if this product will be a good fit for you.
I have combination skin: it’s oilier on the forehead, nose, and chin but it can get very dry on my cheeks.
Also, I have acne-prone skin. I’ve been struggling again with acne after I was able to clear my skin completely a few years ago. It’s mild acne but still, I would prefer it not to be there 😂.
I was able to reduce it with a curated skincare routine but it did not go away completely and I was not sure why.
If you’re interested in how I achieved these results (in just two weeks!) I have different articles, based on skin types, on how to get rid of acne.

Later I discovered that my skin barrier was damaged and pimples were only a symptom of it. So, let’s get to the actual product review!
About the product
Claims
La Roche-Posay cicaplast balm B5 claims to be a multi-purpose soothing, hydrating and non-greasy cream. La Roche-Posay recommends it for dry, chapped, irritated, and sensitive skin.
Price
The price on La Roche-Posay’s site retails for $14.00 for 100 ml. This means it costs $4,43 per ounce which is not that high of a price in my opinion, especially for this product.
Packaging
The packaging is pretty convenient but nothing special. It’s a simple opaque tube, it does its job.
Texture & application
It is a very thick, heavy-duty cream. I have to say it doesn’t glide very easily on the skin since it’s super thick. In fact, I usually warm it up in my hands and press it into my skin for better application.
Initially, it does leave a white cast but it quickly sinks in leaving you with a “glass-skin” effect.
Before
After
Personally, it feels really nice and hydrating on my skin. Even if it’s thick it dries down after a little while so I don’t feel like it’s greasy at all!
In the pin at your left, you can check out the application. In this case, I didn’t apply a lot of product here since I filmed in the morning. As you can see, with a pea-sized amount it does not leave a white cast.
Scent
When I apply it it doesn’t smell like anything to me. If I smell the tube directly it does have a slight scent though. It’s not bad, at least not to me, and it is very very bland.

Experience and results
Personally, I had a wonderful experience with this product! It truly is a multi-purpose product. Here are all the ways I’ve found the cicaplast balm B5 to be excellent.
1. It calms down and reduces inflamed acne
It’s able to calm inflamed pimples better than any product I’ve ever tried before, and I’ve tried quite a few!
A week ago a horrifying whitehead popped out of nowhere. In the evening I applied the cicaplast B5 as a spot treatment and left it overnight. The morning after I saw a noticeable improvement, I was pumped!
Before
After one night
As I said I have acne-prone skin and this balm never caused my acne to flare up. I hear for some people it did though, even if it’s a non-comedogenic product. So, if you’re acne-prone make sure to patch-test it before!
2. It reduces redness and irritations fairly easily
My sister has super sensitive skin and it’s very common for her to wake up to rashes and incredibly irritated skin. We still have no idea what is causing this reaction but I insisted she tried the cicaplast B5.
The results were incredible! Usually, she has to wait more than a week for the rash to be completely gone but, by applying the cicaplast twice a day, all the irritation was gone in three days.
She tried a lot of products before but nothing ever worked so smoothly.

After three days
3. It can strengthen or fix the skin barrier
This balm is amazing if you have a damaged skin barrier. Panthenol and Centella Asiatica as well as many other ingredients have soothing properties that nurture our skin back to health.
I have an entire article on skin barrier 101 if you’re interested in knowing more!
4. It can get rid of dryness and dry patches
The cicaplast it’s an absolute game-changer for dry skin types! It’s able to grant you healthy plump skin if used regularly.
I think it can work for basically every skin type but I would avoid it in the morning if you’re on the oilier side since it’s very heavy-duty.
Personally, I apply only a little bit under my sunscreen in the morning but I pack it on during night time.
Aurora’s tips
if you’re very dry on your cheecks but still want to wear make up and look like a glazed donut try this tirck! mix your cream blush with cicaplast b5 and apply it like normal. i promise you a dryness-free fabolous effect!
Final thoughts: is it worth it?
Personally, I think the cicaplast B5 is absolutely worth it! I love using it every day but even if it’s too much for you I still suggest purchasing it.
You never know when your skin can get irritated. Also, if you overdo your skincare this will get your skin back to health in no time! I feel like it’s an absolute must, especially if you have acne.
